Remind

Remind is a classroom communication tool that makes it easy to stay involved with your child's learning. Remind is free to use, and you'll be able to get and send messages on any device—even a simple text from your phone! Here is a video demo of how Remind works

No it is not mandatory to use remind.  You can choose to opt in to use remind and choose which groups to join. 

Remind will be used for non-emergency communications. This will not replace our emergency communication system that is already in place.

Teachers, coaches and activity sponsors will share their class codes with you. If you are looking for a code for a specific class, please connect with your child’s teacher.

You can create a Remind account by going to our homepage at www.remind.com or downloading the free iOS or Android app. Click on Sign up.

To sign up, you'll need to provide a full name, email address, and password. From there, choose your role and follow the instructions to start using Remind.

 Additionally, you can create an account by texting the Class code provided to you to the number 81010.

Phone numbers stay private. Your phone number will not be shared. 

Personal cell phone numbers, email addresses, and other personal contact information stays private on Remind. All messages are sent through Remind phone numbers and email addresses, not your personal phone number or email address.

Remind is built for education and is always working to make sure that they stay focused on communication safety. 

• Contact information is completely private between students, parents, and teachers. All messages are sent through Remind numbers and emails, not your personal phone number or email address.

• Messages on Remind can't be edited or deleted, so there’s a permanent record of every conversation. Every user can download and email their message history at any time.

• Users who violate our Community Guidelines can be blocked and reported to Remind.

• Two-way communication is only available for students over the age of 13, and parents need to give permission for students under 13 to use Remind.

Remind is also certified by iKeepSafe, an independent organization that helps companies like Remind demonstrate compliance with federal and state-specific laws around student data privacy. More information about iKeepSafe certification can be found here. 

Your data and privacy is important to Remind. They do not rent or sell any user data. You own your data. Information on how Remind uses your data can be found here.

Teachers, students, and parents can access and download a complete message history at any time.

Remind will allow you to translate messages sent to you based on the language used by the operating system on your phone or computer. Remind will send the message to you in the original language and there will be a translate option to  use Google Translation Services to translate the message to the preferred language of your phone.

The remind app allows you to have an organized location for all of your messages and the different groups you belong to.  You can choose to just sign up with text messaging or email or go to remind.com on your computer.

Messages can be received on any device. Students and parents don’t need smartphone—most phones that receives text messages will work. Additionally, any computer or chromebook can access the website at www.remind.com to send or receive messages.  Email can also be used.

Leave a teacher's specific class (but stay in this teacher's other classes)

OS app:
Leave a teacher's specific class
Once you are on the class, tap the the class name on top. In Class settings, tap the red "Leave this class" button at the bottom of that screen.
Android app:
Leave a teacher's specific class
Tap the 3 dots in upper right once you are in the class and then tap Class settings. Lastly, tap the red "Leave this class" button at the bottom of that screen.
Emails:
Opt out of all Remind emails
Click the Unsubscribe button at the bottom of the email. 
Web:
Leave a teacher's specific class 
Click on the name of the class you want to leave. Click the gear icon in the upper right then "Leave this class" on Class settings.

As a student, you will want to use remind so that your teachers, coaches and activity sponsors can tell you the latest updates of what is happening in the school.

All of your classes are setup automatically for you and connected to your district email address. You can join Remind for sports and activities by texting the @classcode to the number 81010.

There are two ways you can connect your phone number to your District Remind account.

1. You can text the code for your school listed below to the number 81010.

After you text you will be asked several questions to finalize the setup of your account. These questions will ask you to provide: 

• Your Full Name
• Are you a Student, Parent or Teacher?
• What is your birthdate? 
• What is your Student ID?
   

2. You can login to your account at www.remind.com or on the Remind app and change your notification preferences. 
On the Web:

1. Click on your name, in the upper left hand corner and choose Account settings. 
2. Go to Notification Preferences to add or remove any contact methods. 

In the App: 

1. Click on the hamburger menu to access account details. 
2. In the upper left hand corner click on the gear icon to get to account and notification settings.

No, connecting your phone number is not mandatory and you can remove it at anytime by going to notification settings.
