D155 Wins 10 Years of International Awards for Financial Excellence

Community High School District 155 has received two national awards for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024. The district earned the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for the 10th consecutive year. In addition, District 155 was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
“These awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication of each member of our incredible finance team and reflect our commitment to fiscal integrity and transparency,” said Kevin Werner, Ed.D., CPA, Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations (CSBO).
The ASBO Certificate of Excellence program promotes the highest standards of financial transparency and accountability. To earn this recognition, school districts must submit an ACFR that complies with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and meets rigorous standards for clarity, completeness, and full disclosure. Each report undergoes a detailed review by a panel of experienced financial professionals, who also provide feedback to strengthen future reports.
The GFOA award is presented to entities whose reports effectively communicate their financial story to stakeholders. The ACFR is an important resource for communicating the district’s financial and economic position. These awards highlight District 155’s ongoing commitment to fiscal responsibility and set a high standard for best practices in educational finance.
