Return to School Information

Dear Parents & Guardians,

We are excited to welcome students back next week and we look forward to the energy they bring each day. Our focus remains on the health and safety of our students and staff, while carrying out our mission to have our students enter with promise and leave with purpose.

As our students return to school, we will continue to work with the McHenry County Department of Health to make data informed decisions. We share in the same beliefs that getting back to school is critical while remaining committed to reducing the risk of COVID-19 in our schools while safely bringing students back. The McHenry County Department of Health is finalizing its School Metrics Dashboard which will allow us to make data informed decisions as we move between learning models. We are also in the process of creating a District 155 COVID-19 dashboard which will be available on the district’s website soon.

Over the past six months, we have overcome several challenges, and we recognize the challenges ahead. We know it hasn’t been easy with the number of transitions we’ve made and our teachers and staff have done a tremendous job preparing for each learning model as we worked to keep the student experience at the center in all of our planning. As we transition into Hybrid and Full-Time Remote Learning next week, please remember this is new for all of us and each day it will become more familiar.

We know we have been sharing a lot of information prior to implementing our Hybrid plan. It’s important for both our Hybrid and Remote Learning families to review the attached document which includes information about:

Together, we must remain vigilant and follow the safety precautions and procedures we have in place so we can continue to offer in-person learning as an option for our students. Please remember the three W’s - wear your mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance. At any time, I am prepared to take the necessary actions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 should the data change. I remain hopeful that months of planning, your support, and your actions to follow safety precautions will allow us to continue to move forward with having students return to our schools.

Sincerely,

Steve Olson
