Mass Notification System

District 155 utilizes One Call Now, a mass messaging service, to alert families of urgent situations. If a school cancelation is necessary because of weather or should an emergency situation present itself during the school day, an automated phone message, text message, and/or email will be delivered to parents.

In most situations, including “snow days,” the system only calls each family’s primary number as listed in Skyward Family Access. Generally, these are calls that occur outside of the regular school day. An emergency weather closing call usually goes out between 5:00-6:00 a.m. For other emergency situations that arise during the school day, we will generally call all phone numbers associated with our students to ensure that we reach parents. This will include any mobile or work phone numbers you include in a student’s Family Access profile.

Please be sure that you have included the correct phone numbers in Skyward.

In the case of snow days, we will supplement the automated call, text, and email by posting a message to the district and school homepages, and the district's official official Twitter account, and the district's official Facebook page

If you are in a situation where your child spends time in two households during the school week, please note that the automated system only contacts the primary phone listed for that student in Family Access. If your child is not at your home when the call comes in, it is incumbent on the parent who has received the call to inform your child of a school closing.

Text Message Alerts
Federal regulations require parents and staff to opt-in to receive text message alerts from District 155.  This is another communication tool D155 will use to send parents information about upcoming district events (Parent University, registration, distribution days, etc.), school closures and emergencies.

To receive text message notifications, you must text the word Alert to 22300 or visit www.OneCallNow.com/TextAlerts. You will receive a text response from One Call Now to let you know you have opted-in. One Call Now is the district’s mass messaging service.

If you opt-in to text message alerts, you will not receive an automated phone call. The text message and automated phone message will be similar messages. Parents and staff will also receive an email with more information.

How much will text message alerts cost me?
If you have a text message plan, these messages will be included in that plan; otherwise, standard text message charges apply.

How do I opt-out?
If you would like to stop receiving text messages, you can opt-out by texting the word Stop to 22300 from your cell phone. Text messages will be disabled to your number. If you choose to Opt-out of text messaging, you will continue to receive voice phone calls to your cell phone.

If my phone number changes, do I have to opt-in again?
You will need to opt-in to text message alerts again if your phone number changes. Opt-in at any time by texting Alert to 22300.
