Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble is the most select instrumental ensemble at Prairie Ridge. The Wind Ensemble is made up of upperclassmen and select freshmen who are advanced musicians, and ready for grade 5 and 6 literature. The major works for wind ensemble will be studied and performed as students learn advanced skills in ensemble musicianship.  Wind Ensemble members are expected to practice their music individually to sufficiently learn the notes and rhythms of the repertoire, so that issues of balance, phrasing, intonation, and nuance can be addressed during rehearsals. All Wind Ensemble members will be part of the Wolfpack Marching Band (unless exempted - see Wolfpack Marching Band), and will perform in concerts and parades throughout the year. Entrance into the Wind Ensemble is by audition. Any student enrolled in Wind Ensemble may be moved to Symphonic Band based on performance in class and/or audition at the end of a semester at the discretion of the director.
