The Trilingual Scholar
Learn two languages besides English and become a Trilingual Scholar!
Prairie Ridge offers four years of Chinese, French, German, Spanish, and Advanced Placement classes. A Trilingual Scholar is an individual who has displayed a strong interest in learning two other languages besides English. These students show a commitment to learning other languages because they make it a priority. They view including two other languages in their class schedules as a requirement, not as an elective. Research shows that with each additional language studied, language students outperform their counterparts in their regular classes, on standardized tests like the ACT and the SAT, and in gaining employment. Prairie Ridge offers students who wish to learn two other languages the title of Trilingual Scholar.
To be considered a Trilingual Scholar, students need to fulfill the following requirements:
- Take four years of English
- Be enrolled in two languages other than English. The first language for four years and the second language for two years.
- Maintain a composite GPA of 3.0 or better in all languages.
The Prairie Ridge Trilingual Scholar will be recognized in various ways:
- your name will be engraved on a plaque
- you will wear a special medal with a white ribbon at graduation
- you will be honored during Honors Night
- you will be awarded with a scholarship in years when enough funds are available.
