CRYSTAL LAKE - A final celebration for the season is set for Wednesday, March 6th. The event is for all girls basketball players and their parents. Each level is included. The program begins at 7:00pm. We hope to see you there.

| 2/21/08 - Michelle Gaede Advances to State |
HONONEGAH - The last shooter of the pack, Michelle Gaede knew she needed a big number. Big number is what she delivered. Hitting 9 of 15 three-pointers, the Gator sophomore qualified for the IHSA Queen of the Court 3-point Shooting contest.
The contest will take place at Illinois State University on Thursday, February 28.

| 2/14/08 - Gators Season Ended by Trojans |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The Regional Championship game was a much anticipated rematch of two rival teams. The Cary-Grove Trojans beat the Gators twice during the season, and their confidence showed with the Gators slow start. The early deficit set the feel of the game with the Gators constantly fighting to come back. The Trojans were too much to overcome, and defeated the Gators 52-40. The Gators ended their season 21-9 overall, and 7-3 in conference play.
Molly Benoit paved the way for the Gators with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Caitlin Mize added 7 points, 4 assists, and 11 rebounds. Jess Taldone added nine points and 2 assists.
The Gators say goodbye to lone senior Laura Bicknell. The two year Varsity player, and four year basketball participant will be remember for her hard work, extreme dedication, team attitude, and ever-present smile!

| 2/12/08 - Gators Hold On To Beat DC |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The Regional Semi-final pitted two Fox Valley Conference teams against one another. The 1-1 regular season record predicted a close, hard-fought basketball game. The typically slow starting Gators jumped out to a 10-2 first quarter lead, that proved to be essential. The rest of the game was a defensive battle for both teams. The game came down to the last seconds, with the Gators holding off the Chargers attempts at a game winning shot. The Gators held on to win 32-30 and improve their record to 21-8.
Michelle Gaede and Caitlin Mize lead the Gators in scoring with 8 points apiece. Mize also pulled down 7 boards, threw out 2 assists and had 2 steals.
The Regional Championship Game will take place on Thursday, February 14th at 7:00pm. Prairie Ridge will host the rematch of the Gators and the Trojans of Cary-Grove.

| 2/12/08 - Benoit, Gaede Advance in 3 Point Shooting Contest |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The Illinois State High School Basketball Association 3 Point Shooing Contest began with the start of the State Playoff Series.
Four athletes from Crystal Lake South High School entered into the competition; senior - Laura Bicknell, junior - Carly Juliano, and sophomores - Molly Benoit and Michelle Gaede.
The two youngsters, Benoit and Gaede, qualified for the next round of the contest. They shoot again on Thursday night at Prairie Ridge High School starting at 6:45pm.

| 2/09/08 - South Falls to Cary-Grove |
CARY - The Saturday afternoon game pitted the CLS Gators against the Trojan's of Cary-Grove. The undefeated conference team was to much for the Gators to overcome. The 45-27 loss ended the Gator's regular season, and tallied the results for the Valley Division of the Fox Valley Conference. The 20-8 Gators finished second in the conference race.
Caitlin Mize had a great all-around game with 7 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Carly Juliano added 5 points and 5 steals.
The Gators begin tournament play on Tuesday, February 12. The Regional host is Prairie Ridge and game time is 8:00pm.

2/02/08 - Gators Hold Strong and Defeat Warriors
|
MCHENRY- The Gators Girls Basketball team was pumped and ready to go. They knew the game plan and the executed. This lead to the 46-30 win, that was never in doubt. This secured the Gator's 20th win of the season.
Katie Burton led the way for the Gators with 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Carly Juliano and Caitlin Mize each added 10 points and 5 rebounds, Mize also pulled down 13 rebounds.
The Gators turn around and play again tomorrow (Saturday, February 9) at 2:00pm against Cary-Grove. This is the make-up game, rescheduled from Wednesday's snow day.

| 1/29/08 - Gators Hold Off Eagles |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The always tough Golden Eagles, came to Gator Alley ready to knock off the Gators. The Gators (18-7, 4-2) jumped out to an early lead, only to give it back. Fighting from the deficit, the Gators finished the first half ahead and never looked back. The 36-31 win, pushed the Gators in to second place in the race for the conference title.
The win was a full team effort, led by Michelle Gaede with 11 points, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Mize added 9 points and 9 rebounds. Carly Juliano contributed with 5 points and 8 steals.
The Gators host the Dundee-Crown Chargers at Gator Alley on Tuesday, January 29 at 7pm. This will be the last home game of the season, we will take an extra opportunity to honor our seniors and our parents.

| 1/25/08 - Gators Escape Streaks |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The Gators (17-7, 4-2) showed up defensively to hold the Bluestreaks down in a 34-31 Conference Game. The game full of runs and defensive stops, came down to the end - free-throw shooting and smart play sealed the game for the Gators.
Katie Burton lead the balanced attack for the Gators with 9 points, 3 rebound, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Caitlin Mize added 8 points and 4 rebounds.
The Gators host the Golden Eagles of Jacobs at Gator Alley on Tuesday, January 29 at 7pm.

| 1/22/08 - Gators Defend Home Court |
CRYSTAL LAKE - A much needed home win came after a test from the Warriors. The Gators (16-7, 3-2) jumped out to an early lead, and never looked back. The Warriors of McHenry tried to balance the contest pulling to within four points. The final was 57-45 in favor of the Gators.
Michelle Gaede tossed in 12 points. Katie Burton added ten points, six rebounds, and five assists. Caitlin Mize continued to dominated the boards, leading all players with 10 rebounds.
The Gators continue conference play on Friday facing off against Woodstock. The game will begin at 7pm at Gator Alley.

| 1/19/08 - Gators Hold On to Beat Hawks |
BARTLETT - The trip to Bartlett wasn't enough to shake the Gators, but the physical play of the Hawks almost was. The non-conference contest carried a different type of game for the Gators. Clutch free-throw shooting and a key steal allowed the Gators to escape with a win.
Carly Juliano led the Gators with 10 points, 8-8 from the free throw line. Molly Benoit added 9 points and 3 assists. Caitlin Mize grabbed 9 rebounds.
The Gators continue conference play on Tuesday, January 22nd when McHenry travels to Gator Alley.

| 1/18/08 - Trojans Outlast Gators |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The district 155 rivalry went to the Trojans on this night. The Gators dropped their second consecutive conference game, 60-47 in a hard fought, fast paced game.
Katie Burton topped the Gators with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals. Caitlin Mize followed with seven points and nine rebounds.
The Gators complete their week with a non-conference game at Bartlett. The Game starts at 6pm.

| 1/15/08 - Gators Fall to Chargers |
DUNDEE - The Gators pick up their first conference loss at the hands of the Dundee-Crown Chargers. The first half deficit and the great free throw shooting of the Chargers was to much for the Gators to overcome in the 51-42 loss. The Gators are now 14-6 on the season and 2-1 in the conference.
Leading the Gators were Carly Juliano with 14 points and 4 steals, Caitlin Mize with 7 points and 7 rebounds, and Katie Burton with 8 points and 3 steals.
The Gators face the Trojans of Cary-Grove on Friday, January 18th. The game will start at 7pm at Gator Alley.

| 1/12/08 - Gators Second-half Secures Win |
JACOBS - It was a tale of two halves. The Gators secured their second conference win, after outscoring the Eagles 34 - 17 in the second half. Down by nine at half-time, the Gators finished on top, 48-40.
The Gators were led by Michelle Gaede with 13 points. Jenny Hanrahan added 10 points and 7 boards. Carly Juliano doubled with 8 points and 8 rebounds.
The Gators are on the road to challenge the Chargers, the game at D.C. will start @ 7pm on Tuesday, January 15th.

| 1/10/08 - Clutch FTs Elevate Gators Over Knights |
GRAYSLAKE - Same story, different day. Three seconds left, a Gator at the free-throw line with a chance to win the game. Jess Taldone drove to the basket as the clock ran down, at the line she hit one of two to seal the win.
The Gators were led by Carly Juliano with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Caitlin Mize added 11 rebounds and 3 assists. Michelle Gaede had 13 points.
The Gators are in action next on Saturday, January 12 at Jacobs. Next week, the Gators are at Dundee-Crown, home against Cary-Grove, and at Bartlett.

| 1/9/08 - FTs Win Game for Gators |
WOODSTOCK- The closely contested game came down to a one point deficit, and Michelle Gaede at the line with two free-throws. The game ended with a Gator victory and Gaede the hero after hitting both shots.
Gaede led the Gators with 15 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Katie Burton added 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Tomorrow, the Gators travel to Grayslake to face the Knights. The game will begin at 7pm. Saturday, the Gator travel to The Eagle's Nest and challenge the Golden Eagles of Jacobs.

| 1/4/08 - Gators Topple Cross-town Rivals, Prairie Ridge |
CRYSTAL LAKE- Even after one quarter, the Gators stepped up the defensive pressure. After holding the Wolves to just two points in the second quarter, the Gators never looked back. The Gators secured the non-conference win, with a score of 52-38.
Carly Juliano led the Gators in scoring with 10 points, Michelle Gaede added 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Jenny Hanrahan had 6 rebounds.
The Gators start their conference season on Wednesday, January 9th at 7pm. The opener sends the Gators to Woodstock to challenge the Bluestreaks. The Gators also travel to Grayslake North on Thursday and Jacobs on Friday.

| 12/22/07 - Gators Hold Down Lakes to Secure Championship |
RICHMOND BURTON - The Gators intensified their defensive energy in an effort to secure the tournament championship. The Gators ended their pool play in a tie, therefore the tie-break was dependent on defensive point average.
The 37-19 victory over Antioch Lakes nailed down the championship.
Carly Juliano led the Gators in all categories; 9 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, and 6 steals.
The Gators are off for the Holiday Break. They resume play on Friday, January 4 at Prairie Ridge. The Conference cross-over game will start at 7pm.

| 12/21/07 - Defense Leads Gators to Win Over Marengo |
WOODSTOCK
- The team goal was defense. The outcome: a win. The final score posted the Gators 41-21 over the Marengo Indians.
Katie Burton led the Gators in scoring with 8 points, Caitlin Mize led the Gators with 8 boards, and Carly Juliano added three assists.
The conclusion of the Woodstock-Richmond Burton Holiday Classic will be held at Richmond Burton on Saturday, December 22. The Gators end the tournament playing Antioch Lakes. The game starts at 12pm.

| 12/17/07 - Gators Down Wauconda |
WOODSTOCK - The Gators had to rely on the old standby, their defense, to get this win from Wauconda. Holding the maroon and gold to five and six points in the second and third quarters respectively, allowed the Gators to hang on and collect the 54-44 win.
Molly Benoit tossed in 14 points, while Katie Burton filled in the rest of the categories-9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 7 steals. Michelle Gaede pulled down 9 boards.
The Gators take the floor again on Friday, December 21 to continue play in the Woodstock-Richmond Burton Holiday Classic. At Woodstock, the Gators will challenge Marengo at 6pm.

WOODSTOCK - After the tough loss earlier in the afternoon, the Gators decided to play. The lopsided 62-32 score was highlighted when each of the Gators present scored.
Michelle Gaede led all scorers with 13 points, Jess Taldone had 6 assists and 3 steals, Carly Juliano grabbed 7 boards.
The Woodstock-Richmond Burton Holiday Classic continues play on Monday, December 17. The Gators take on Wauconda at the host site of Woodstock at 5:30pm.

WOODSTOCK - The Panthers showed up to play and make it awfully hard for the Gators to do anything right. The 44-32 loss left the Gators 0-1 in tournament play.

CRYSTAL LAKE - In a hard fought and physical battle, the Gators fell just short of knocking off the conference foe of Huntley. The game highlighted two teams focused on defense, and the 36-32 game made that evident.
Carly Juliano chipped in 8 points. Katie Burton pitched in 6 rebounds, and Jess Taldone handed-out 2 assists.
The Gators begin their holiday tournament play on Saturday in the Woodstock-Richmond Burton Holiday Classic. The Gators face the Panthers of Round Lake at 1pm and rebound for a second contest at 6pm against Richmond Burton.

BUFFALO GROVE - Carly Juliano was selected a member of the Bison Thanksgiving Tournament all tournament team. Juliano led the Gators in scoring in three of five games, and was a huge contributor on many other fronts. Carly was recognized with a very elite group of athletes.

| 12/10/07 - Gators Hold on to Beat the Rams |
CRYSTAL LAKE - After a slow first quarter, the Gators grabbed the pick-me-up they needed with a 16-4 second quarter score. The second half produced an evenly matched contest, the Gators narrowly escaped with a 38-37 win.
Molly Benoit hit the game winning three pointer and led the Gators with 12 points. Jessica Taldone pitched in 11 points, Carly Juliano added 7 points and 7 rebounds. Kaitlin Hardie nabbed 4 steals, and Katie Burton handed out 3 assists to complete the team effort.
The Gators travel to Grayslake North on Tuesday, December 11th at 7pm. The Gators are home on Friday, December 14. The Gators begin their holiday tournament play on Saturday in the Woodstock-Richmond Burton Holiday Classic.

| 12/06/07 - Gators Down Cross-town Rivals |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The Johnsburg Sky-Hawks entered Gator Alley with a chip on their shoulder. They had yet to win a game at Crystal Lake South High School in the two years since they became members of the Fox Valley Conference. The Gators were not able to defend their home court in a 43-47 loss. The close contest was a battle throughout the entire game.
Jessica Taldone controlled the Gators with 12 points. Carly Juliano added 10 points, Caitlin Mize contributed 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Kaitlin Hardie dished out 4 assists.
The Gators take the floor again at home on Saturday, December 8th. The Gators will see a rematch against the Grayslake Central Rams. The game will begin at 7pm.

CRYSTAL LAKE - The scrappy, determined play of the Tigers pushed the Gators mentally and physically, in the first meeting of conference crossover games. The Gators had to earn a hard fought 44-30 victory.
Carly Juliano paced the Gators with 11 points Caitlin Mize lead all players with nine rebounds and four assists.
The Gator's host the Johnsburg Sky-Hawks in their home-opener. The game starts at 7pm on Thursday, December 6.

CRYSTAL LAKE - Saturday's cancelled game against Johnsburg has been rescheduled. The game will be played at Crystal Lake South High School on Thursday, December 6. The Frosh and Sophomore games will start at 5:30 pm and the Varsity game will follow at 7pm.

ELGIN - Traveling to Elgin, the Gators (4-2) worked their way to their first regular season victory. The Maroons of Elgin (0-5) showed their athleticism and determination by pushing the Gators to a hard fought 50-36 win.
The Gators were led by Jessica Taldone with 11 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Molly Benoit added 10 points. Caitlin Mize and Carly Juliano had 5 rebounds apiece. Katie Burton handed out 5 assists.
The Gators are in action next at home on Saturday, December 1. The Gators play host the the Skyhawks of Johnsburg at 7pm. This is the first Conference Crossover game.

| 11/24/07 - Gators Rally to Topple Phillies |
DES PLAINES - Trailing through the first three quarters of the game, the Gators (3-2) rallied against a formidable Barrington team. The Gator's spark came on a buzzer beating 3-pointer to end the third quarter cutting the Phillies lead to seven to start the fourth quarter. The energy, endurance, and depth of the Gator bench was to much for the Phillies to withstand. The final score found the Gators victorious, with a 49-44 win.
Carly Juliano was the leading scorer for the Gators with 16 points, Michelle Gaede added 12. Jessica Taldone nabbed 5 steals and Caitlin Mize led the team with 5 rebounds.
The Gators enter regular season games starting next week. First on the agenda, The Elgin Maroons. The Gators travel to Elgin on Tuesday, November 27th for a 7pm game.

DES PLAINES - The Hawks of Maine South produced to much pressure for the Gators (2-2) to overcome. The Gators rallied to a fourth quarter come-back, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit. The score ended 39-47 in favor of the Hawks.
Carly Juliano led the Gators with 11 points, Jess Taldone chipped in 6 points and 4 assists.
The Buffalo Grove Thanksgiving Tournament wraps-up, with the final games on Saturday, November 24 at Buffalo Grove High School. The Gators play at 12:30pm against the Phillies of Barrington.

| 11/20/07 - Gators Drop to Bison |
DES PLAINES - The Bison showed their experience and talent, from the opening tip. Facing an early deficit, the Gators(2-1) rallied through the remaining three quarters. The early deficit proved to much for the Gators to over come. The score ended 31-45, in favor of the Buffalo Grove Bison.
Jessica Taldone led the Gators with 17 points. Carly Juliano added 9 rebounds. Katie Burton handed out 4 assists. Caitlin Mize and Kaitlin Hardie nabbed 2 steals.
The Buffalo Grove Thanksgiving Tournament continues after the holiday. Games 4 and 5 are held at Buffalo Grove High School on Friday and Saturday. The Gators play at 12:30pm on both days. Friday, the Gators face Maine South and Saturday, the Gators wrap up the tournament against Barrington.

BUFFALO GROVE - The Gators (2-0) controlled the game from the outset, leading 18-5 after the first quarter. The intensity slowed, as the Rams played the Gators evenly for the remaining three quarters. The Gators held on to win, 57-46, securing their second consecutive win of the season.
Carly Juliano led the Gators with 13 points and 3 assists. Katie Burton added 10 points and 3 assists. Caitlin Mize dominated the boards with 7 rebounds, and Kaitlin Hardie used her quickness to grab 3 steals.
The Gators continue play in the Buffalo Grove Thanksgiving Tournament. Game 3 is held at Maine South High School versus Buffalo Grove. The contest starts at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, November 20.

| 11/15/07 - Gators Win Season Opener |
BARRINGTON - The first half was full of tell-tale signs of game number one of the Buffalo Grove Thanksgiving Tournament. Facing a ten point deficit, the gators calmed themselves and pulled together after half time. The stifling Gator (1-0) defense held the Panthers of Regina Dominican to just two points in the third quarter. The Gators pulled ahead at the beginning of the fourth quarter and never looked back, holding on to win 48-44.
Jess Taldone led the Gators with 13 points and 3 steals. Carly Juliano added 12 points, Kaitlin Hardie had 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Caitlin Mize grabbed 4 rebound and Michelle Gaede passed for 4 assists.
