CRYSTAL LAKE - The local paper highlights the success of local athletes by naming a first, second and honorable mention - All Area team. The Crystal Lake South Gators had an athlete named to each team. Katie Burton was name First Team -All Area. Caitlin Mize was selected for the Second Team -All Area. And Michelle Gaede was named to the Honorable Mention - All Area Team.

| 2/26/09 - 2008-09 Gators Set School Record For Wins |
ALGONQUIN - With a win over the St. Charles East Saints, the Gators collected their 26th win of the season. This is the most wins ever collected by a Gator Girls Basketball Team. The previous best was 23 wins, which was met twice - 1978-79 and 2005-06. Nice Work Gators!

| 2/26/09 - Titans End Season for Gators |
ALGONQUIN - The large and energetic crowd was treated to a great basketball game. The evenly matched teams, played almost evenly. The slight advantage went to the athletic Titans. Unfortunately the Gators ended up on the wrong side of 56-47scoreboard.
Michelle Gaede contributed with 11 points, followed by Mize and Benoit with 8 apiece.
The loss ended the season for the Gators. The Gators ended with a record of 26-5. The Gators say good-bye to five seniors: Tona Buettner, Michelle Kuta, and captains: Carly Juliano, Caitlin Mize, and Jessica Taldone.

| 2/26/09 - Benoit's Three-point shooting sends her to ISU |
ALGONQUIN - Molly Benoit is holding her team together for one more week. Benoit will be supported by her teammates as she represents Crystal Lake South and the Jacobs Regional in the IHSA Queen of the Court Three-point Shootout. Benoit hit 7 of 15 Threes in the Sectional qualifying round to advance to the state level. Benoit will shoot on Thursday, March 4th in hopes to advance to the final four. Good Luck Molly!

| 2/23/09 - Gators Climb Past Saints |
ALGONQUIN - A fast paced first quarter landed the Gators ahead 14-12. Adding a couple of points each quarter, the Gators slowly climbed into control. At the end of the night the Gators collected a 51-38 win and a spot in the Sectional final.
Carly Juliano had 13 points, followed closely by Jenny Hanrahan with 12. Hanrahan also had 8 boards.
The Gators will play next in the Sectional Final which will be held at Jacobs High School. The game against Rockford Boylan will begin at 7:30 on Thursday, February 26th.

CRYSTAL LAKE - Congratulations to the Varsity Team for winning their first Regional in 18 years! By beating Streamwood and Jacobs the Gators advanced to the Sectional to face St. Charles East on Monday, February 23rd. Good Luck Gators!!

| 2/20/09 - Gators Hold On For Win |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The third match up of these two teams proved to be a battle. With the series tied at one win apiece, each team stepped up its defensive prowess. Ahead 11-8 at the half, the Gators (25-4) hit their stride in the third quarter. With a 10 point lead heading into the fourth, the Gators were able to hold on and collect a 32-29 win and a Regional Championship.
Michelle Gaede had 10 points, followed by Mize and Hanrahan with 8 apiece. Mize also had 6 boards, 3 assists, and 3 steals.
The Crystal Lake South Regional Champions move on to play in the Jacobs Sectional. The Gators will match up against St. Charles East. The game is scheduled for Monday, February 23rd at 8 pm.

| 2/18/09 - South Downs Streamwood |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The Crystal Lake South Regional Semi-Final game between Streamwood and the hosts was never in doubt. A 23-9 first quarter lead, quickly swelled into a 57-31 final.
Katie Burton poured in 17 points, Caitlin Mize added 15, Jenny Hanrahan pulled down 5 boards, and Carly Juliano added 6 assists.
The next task for the Gators (24-4) is the Regional Championship. The Gators will challenge the Jacobs' Eagles for the team's first Regional Championship in 18 years. The game will be played at Crystal Lake South on Friday the 20th of February at 7:30 pm.

CRYSTAL LAKE - Congratulations to the 2008-2009 Varsity Girls Basketball Team! The Gators won the Valley Division of the Fox Valley Conference with a 9 and 1 record.

| 2/13/09 - Gators Hold-on for Win Over Woodstock |
WOODSTOCK - The Gators (23-4, 9-1)relied on their first quarter lead to carry them through the conference finale. After jumping on the Bluestreaks 20-8 after the first quarter. The Woodstock team stayed tough and held the Gators to 4 points in each of the second and third quarters. But the early lead was enough for the Gators to hold on for a 45 -32 win. This win secured the outright Fox Valley Conference Valley Division Title.
The team effort was divided somewhat evenly: Mize had 15 points, Gaede - 10, Burton -8, and Hanrahan and Juliano - 6 each.
Post-season play is here! The Gators have been seeded second in the Crystal Lake South Regional. Their regional game will pit them against Streamwood on Wednesday, February 18th at 8 pm.

| 2/10/09 - Gators Win Rematch |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The Gators (22-4, 8-1) came ready to play after suffering a loss to the Golden Eagles earlier in the season. And the toughness of the Jacobs team allowed them to hang around until the second half. The third quarter and then the game belonged to the Gators. This 54-39 win, was enough to secure at least a share of the Conference Title.
Katie Burton was the leader for the Gators. She poured in 17 points, 7 boards, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 2 blocked shots.
The wrap-up to the conference schedule and the regular season is on Friday, February 13th at Woodstock.

| 2/7/09 - Gators Win Tough Battle with Cary-Grove |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The much anticipated rematch of the conference rivals lived up to all the hype. The Gators (21-4, 7-1) jumped out to an early lead, and held on through each and every Trojan run to collect a 66-53 victory. The win pulled the Gators ahead of the Trojans in the race for the conference title.
Caitlin Mize carried the team with a tremendous stat line, 16 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and most importantly for the Gators 10 for 10 from the charity stripe in the fourth quarter.
The Gators return to action on Tuesday at home challenging the Golden Eagles. The conference game is at Crystal Lake South at 7 pm on Tuesday the 10th of February.

| 2/4/09 - Gators Jump on Chargers |
CARPENTERSVILLE - The Gators showed their strength early, jumping out to a 19-5 first quarter advantage. The Gators rolled to a 47-21 victory, their 20th of the season.
Katie Burton poured in 12 points, followed by Mize with 9, and Lauren Chrystal with 8.
The Gators (20-4, 6-1) are in action again on Saturday. The game against conference rival Cary-Grove is at CLS at 7 pm.

| 1/30/09 - Warriors Fall Prey to Gators |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The first quarter set the tone for the Gators (19-4, 5-1). The remaining three quarters were played evenly from the Warriors. The game ended with a 44-27 win in the Gators favor.
Gaede had 12 points, followed by Jessica Taldone and Katie Burton with 11 apiece. Taldone also had 5 assists and Jenny Hanrahan had 9 boards.
Next up for the Gators is the DC Chargers on their home court. The 7pm game will take place on February 4th.

| 1/27/09 - Gators Slide By the Streaks |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The defensive pressure and strong rebounding of the Bluestreaks, held the potent offense of the Gators down. The 35-32 win, was a battle from start to finish. The win moved the Gators to 18-4 overall, and 4-1 in the conference.
Katie Burton paced the Gators with 16 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Next Friday, the Warriors arrive at Gator Alley to start the second round of conference play. The game starts at 7pm on January 30th.

| 1/23/09 - Last Second Bucket Hands Gators Loss |
ALGONQUIN - The last bucket determined the outcome of this evenly played divisional match up. Unfortunately for the Gators (17-4, 3-1), the Eagles hit the last shot to hand over the 49-47 loss.
The effort was lead by Caitlin Mize with 15 points and 6 boards. Michelle Gaede added 14 points.
The Gators return home for a showdown with the Bluestreaks. The Wednesday night game is at 7pm.

| 1/20/09 - Gators Win Battle Over Cary-Grove |
CARY - After weathering the initial Trojan run, the Gators fought back to a first quarter lead. The win in quarter 2 went to CG, but the rest of the game went in favor of the Gators. With this 58-48 win, the Gators advance to 17-3 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
Michelle Gaede poured in another great performance with 15 points and 3 assists. Molly Benoit added 7 points and 7 rebounds.
Next stop, Jacobs. The Gators head to the Eagle's nest on Friday, January 23. The game starts at 7.

| 1/17/09 - Bartlett Nabs Victory Over Gators in OT |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The tale of two halves, ended with Gators (16-3) on the wrong side. Starting strong, the Gators led at the end of the first half. The Hawks slowly crept back in to force an extra session. The momentum swing stayed with Bartlett as they collected the 52-46 victory.
Michelle Gaede had 14 points, along with Caitlin Mize adding 8 boards. Carly Juliano rolled double nickels with 5 assists and 5 steals.
Tuesday, January 20th the Gators travel to Cary-Grove. The Divisional game starts at 7:30.

CRYSTAL LAKE - The early effort of the Gators set the tone of the night. Jumping out to a 10 point first quarter the lead, the Gators (16-2, 2-0) slowly climbed to a 51-33 final score.
Michelle Gaede topped the night with 13 points and 4 steals. Katie Burton pitched in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Molly Benoit had 7 rebounds.
The Gators continue their home stand with a game tomorrow. Bartlett comes to town for a game on Saturday, January 17th at 7:30 pm.

| 1/13/09 - Gators Open Valley with Win |
McHenry - The odd number quarters made the difference in the opening game of the Valley Division play. The scrappy Warriors played the Gators (15-2, 1-0) evenly outside of the two dominant quarters. The Gators jumped out to a 18-6 first quarter lead and outscored McHenry 17-2 in the third to collect the 54-32 win.
Katie Burton led the way with 11 points, Caitlin Mize added 10 points and 6 rebounds. The other stat columns were filled by Michelle Gaede with 4 steals, Jessica Taldone with 4 assists, and Jenny Hanrahan with 8 boards.
Valley Division play continues on Friday, January 16th. The Chargers come to Gator Alley. The action starts at 7:30pm.

| 1/10/09 - Gators Hold Down Wolves |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The Gators (14-2) wrapped up a sweep of the Fox Division with a 45-24 win over Prairie Ridge.
Caitlin Mize paced the Gators with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Michelle Gaede added 3 assists and Katie Burton nabbed 3 steals.
Conference play starts on Tuesday, January 13th. The Gators travel to McHenry for the opening game of Valley Division play. The game starts at 7pm at McHenry West High School. The week continues for the Gators at home versus Dundee-Crown on Friday, and Saturday at home versus Bartlett.

| 12/22/08 - Gators Win Holiday Classic |
McHENRY - The championship game of the Holiday Classic, pitted the Gators (13-2) against the undefeated Bulldogs of Wauconda. The Bulldogs beat the host school of McHenry to advance to the championship game.
Although the Gators jumped out to an early lead, the Bulldogs responded with a run of their own. The athletic contest ended 47-39 in favor of the Gators. This win secured the tournament championship and moved the Gators to a 13-2 record heading into the holidays.
Caitlin Mize led all scorers with 13 points. Carly Juliano and Jenny Hanrahan helped control the boards with 8 apiece. Katie Burton and Jess Taldone each added 3 assists.
The Gators are off until the new year. After the Holidays, the Gators travel across town to challenge the Wolves of Prairie Ridge. The game is scheduled for Saturday, January 10th at 7pm.

| 12/22/08 - First Quarter Sets Pace for Gators |
McHENRY - Jumping out to a quick 26-10 first quarter lead, the Gators never looked back in their 63-39 win over the Bluestreaks of Woodstock. The win propelled the Gators (12-2) through the semi-finals and into the championship game of the Holiday Classic.
The Gators win came with a balanced attack. Michelle Gaede tossed in 17 points, followed by Katie Burton with 11 and Caitlin Mize with 10. Molly Benoit added 6 rebounds, along with Jenny Hanrahan's 5. Mize and Jess Taldone each tallied 5 assists.
The Gators play for the championship this afternoon at McHenry West High School. Their opponent will be the undefeated Bulldogs of Wauconda.

| 12/20/08 - Gators Move to Championship Pool |
MARENGO - With tournament placements on the line, the Gators held off the Indians on their home floor for the win. After a strong first quarter, the Gators slowly sealed the 57-37 victory. The win moved the Gators to 11-2 and secured their place in the championship pool with a chance to play for the tournament title.
The Gators were led by Michelle Gaede and Caitlin Mize with 18 points apiece. Katie Burton pulled down 8 rebounds and Carly Juliano added 5 assists.
The Gators completed the first day of the Holiday Classic with a 2-0 record. This allows the Gators to feed into the championship pool. The semi-finals of the Holiday Classic begin at 10 am on Monday, December 22. The championship pool will be played in McHenry at McHenry West High School.

MARENGO - The Gators (10-2) lead from the outset and claimed a 51-38 win over the Rockford Jefferson Vikings.

MARENGO - Game one of the Holiday Classic has been cancelled due to inclement weather. The tournament will continue as scheduled tomorrow (Saturday, December 20th). Changes to the format of the tournament will be announced on Saturday.

| 12/16/08 - Gators Get Win Over Johnsburg |
CRYSTAL LAKE - The snowy, cold weather was forgotten inside Gator Alley, where the rivalry with the Sky-Hawks was present. The 15-15 tie at the end of the first quarter was lost with the intensity driven push from the Gators in quarter 2. The push was enough for the Gators to withstand the 4th quarter Johnsburg rally. The Gators claimed a 50-45 win and moved to 9-2 overall.
Katie Burton and Caitlin Mize led the Gators with 12 points apiece. Carly Juliano pitched in 10 points, 6 boards, and 3 assists.
The Gators start play in the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic on Friday, December 19th. The tournament is hosted by McHenry and Woodstock and will be played at four sites: McHenry, Woodstock, Marengo, and Richmond-Burton. The Gators start pool play at 7:30 pm at Marengo against Marengo.

GRAYSLAKE - A hot start for the home team, forced the Gators (8-2) to play catch-up. Behind solid shooting and a strong transition game, the Gators collected a 62-56 conference crossover victory.
Leading the way for the Gators was Michelle Gaede with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Katie Burton helped out with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
The Gators return home to host the Johnsburg Sky-Hawks. The game starts at 7pm on Tuesday, December 16.

CRYSTAL LAKE - Quick starts were the determining factor in this conference crossover game. The Gators (7-2) jumped out to an early first quarter lead of 13-8 and pushed to a solid 27-12 half-time score. The start of the third quarter and the 10 point advantage sealed the 56-36 win for the Gators.
Michelle Gaede and her 14 points were tops for the Gators. Katie Burton pitched in 9 points, 4 steals, and 3 assists. Caitlin Mize controlled the boards with 9 rebounds.
Saturday, the Gators travel to Grayslake Central to challenge the Rams. The game will start at 7pm.

HUNTLEY - The first quarter proved to be the difference in the conference crossover game. Jumping out to an 11-1 lead, the Huntley Red-Raiders played an even game for the remaining three quarters. The initial lead was enough to secure the 47-34 Gator win. The win moved the Gators to 6-2.
Burton led the Gators with 14 points, 5 steals, and 3 assists. Mize contributed with 10 points, and 9 boards.
The Gators are in action next at home on Wednesday, December 10th. The Gators play host to the Knights of Grayslake at 7pm.

CRYSTAL LAKE - The Gators (5-2) controlled the game from the outset, leading 18-7 after quarter one. The intensity continued as the Gators collected a 62-37 win over the Elgin Maroons.
Mize and Juliano led the way for the Gators with 16 and 13 points respectively. Molly Benoit added 6 point and 6 rebounds.
Next up, the Gators travel to Huntley on Saturday, December 6th for a 7pm game.

CRYSTAL LAKE - The win hungry Gators, jumped out from the opening tip to secure the game. After giving up 10 points in the first quarter, the Gators (4-2) relied on defensive intensity to collect a 53-27 win against the Tigers.
The Gators continued with a balanced attack. The starting five lead the scoring column with Burton - 14, Gaede -10, Mize -9, Benoit - 8, and Juliano - 7.

BUFFALO GROVE - Two members of the Buffalo Grove Holiday All-Tournament Team wear a Gator uniform. Michelle Gaede and Caitlin Mize were recognized for their tremendous play.

| 11/29/08 - Barrington Drops Gators |
BUFFALO GROVE - The Phillies took out the Gators en route to their tournament title. The 54-38 Barrington win was the second loss of the season for the Gators, dropping them to 3-2 overall.
Mize paced the Gators with 11 points and 9 rebounds.
The Gators enter regular season games starting next week. First up, Fox Valley opponent and cross-town rival - Crystal Lake Central. The Tigers travel to Gator Alley for a crossover game on Tuesday December 2, at 7pm.

| 11/28/08 - Maine South Outlasts Gators |
BUFFALO GROVE
- The high scoring first half, ended with the Hawks leading the Gators by one. The second half told the same story, but ended with the Hawks over-powering the Gators in the end. The 56-49 loss was the first of the season for the Gators (3-1).
Carly Juliano and Jess Taldone scored 16 and 10 points respectively and handed out 3 assists apiece.
The Buffalo Grove Thanksgiving Tournament wraps-up, with the final games on Saturday, November 29th at Buffalo Grove High School. The Gators play at 12:30 pm against the Phillies of Barrington.

| 11/25/08 - Gators Roll to 3 and 0 with OT Win over BG |
DES PLAINES - A slow start forced the Gators to claw their way back into the game against the Bison of Buffalo Grove. Each quarter saw the Bison lead get smaller, ending regulation in a 32-32 tie. Overtime continued with the Gators getting stronger and securing a 39-34 victory.
Gaede was the scoring leader with 12 points, followed by Katie Burton with 8.
The Buffalo Grove Tournament continues after the holiday. Friday, November 28th the Gators face Maine South at 12:30pm at Buffalo Grove High School.

BUFFALO GROVE - The Gators built upon a small first half lead to collect their second win of the season. The 48-32 win moves the Gators to 2-0 on the season.
Caitlin Mize led the way with 11 points and 6 rebounds. Jess Taldone handed-out 4 assists, along with 8 points.
Tuesday, November 25th the Gators travel to Maine South. The tournament play continues with a game against the Bison of Buffalo Grove. Game time is 5:30 pm.

BARRINGTON - Ready to jumpstart their season, the Gators (1-0) jumped out to a quick 20-8 first quarter lead. The lead was enough to hold on for the 47-33 win over the Panthers of Regina.
Caitlin Mize and Katie Burton led the way with 13 and 10 points respectively. Jenny Hanrahan tossed in 7 points and pulled down 9 rebounds.
Tournament play continues on Saturday, November 22. The Gators are set to challenge Libertyville. The game will be played at Buffalo Grove High School at 11am.
