LCPL JONATHAN W. COLLINS MEMORIAL

Marine Lance Cpl. Jonathan W. Collins was a part of the CLS Gator Soccer program from 1999-2002.  As a goalkeeper, he was a natural leader.  Former Coach Don Stumpf described Jon as "the heart and soul" of the teams he played on.  Upon graduation, Jon joined the Marines and he was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, California.  On August 8th, 2004, Jon died fighting for his country due to enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.  He will always be remembered in the CLS Gator Soccer community and starting in 2007, a new award will be given in memory of his name to the player who best embodies what Jon stood for:

Honor, Courage, and Committment

"All Gave Some and Some Gave All"

In January of 2007, the parents of Jon (Angel and Jack) offerred to give something back to the Gator Soccer Program and CLS High School.  They presented us with a proposal to help us renovate our soccer complex with a new field, drainage system, scoreboard, etc. by donating money from their LCPL Jonathan W. Collins Memorial Fund to the project.  It will be a perfect tribute to the memory of Jon and we hope to have the new LCPL Jonathan W. Collins Memorial Field project complete by the fall season of 2008.
