SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Attached you will find a list of scholarships.  There are two types of scholarships opportunities that are listed.  Let me explain the differences between the two and also what resources Central has to offer with the scholarship hunt.

  1. Corporate and private scholarships:  these scholarships are sent to high schools all over the United States; some might be more local and just high schools in McHenry County (for example, MCC scholarships).  Some are very competitive.  YOU must contact the organization regarding any questions about the scholarship.  Every attempt is given to provide you with the information needed to look in to these scholarships.
  2. Local Scholarships and District 155 Teacher Association Scholarships:  These scholarships are strictly from local organizations that want to support District 155 students.

Resources available to students for scholarship searches at Central:

  • A list of the most current scholarships sent to us by organizations.
  • On line information as to how to obtain applications.
  • Counselors and teachers who will write letters of recommendation.

A few tips for scholarships:

  • NEVER pay money to get money.  There are some scholarships that ask for a $10 (or so) “processing fee” – don’t do this!!!
  • Monetary awards and scholarships should never be repaid.
  • Scholarship applications take some time to complete – but if you can earn even $100 – and you spent an hour doing the application – that’s $100 an hour.  Pretty good, eh?

See your counselor for any further questions.  We’ll do our best to help you.
