About Us

We are a choral program dedicated to inspiring a knowledge and love of music in all students involved. Participants in the choral department are among the most successful and well-rounded members of the Cary-Grove community. By taking part in this flourishing program, you are opening yourself up to one of the most enriching experiences available to you at this school.

Additionally, Cary-Grove boasts one of the largest choral departments in the state of Illinois, with nearly 450 singers enrolled in choir for the 2008-09 school year.

Department Objectives

It is the goal of this department that through a balanced repertoire of high quality music representing diverse genres and eras, students will learn the versatility to perform music in a stylistically appropriate manner, with emphasis on accuracy, consistency, vocal health, and fulfilling their own individual potential as a singer.

Students will also learn to craft intelligent critical appraisals of performances, to become an informed consumer of all types of music, and to have a solid foundation in the basics of music reading and theory.

Above all, students will be a part of a comfortable, accepting, enriching, and artistic environment that will motivate them to succeed to the best of their ability and strive for personal and group excellence at all times.
