As with past decisions concerning driver's education and other school matters, safety is the district's number one priority and a guiding factor in the district's planning and execution. Prior to the Illinois Legislature's decision, District 155 implemented a plan to follow the new Illinois School Code, including hiring more teachers and eliminating the simulator rooms, and procuring more training cars. Therefore, driver's ed students at each of the District 155 schools will experience six hours of in-car driving practice with an instructor and be fully compliant with the new code. At least, that's the perspective the Crystal Lake Central student brought forth in her essay "Hands," which she wrote for her sophomore honors English class.
