Look for Knick Banas' design on the 08-09 Cary-Grove Handbooks

to be given out at registration! Congrats Knick!

GD 1 students Emily Harvey and Harry Kuykendall were awarded first place honors in this year's Metra Safety Poster Contest.  Each recieved a new laptop computer for their winning poster designs.

  Students Knick Banas, Lizzy Dyrek and Stephanie Emerich also recieved honors and cash awards for their poster designs.

Congrats to Allie Geitner, whose logo was chosen

for this year's CG Rising Artist Show.

Congrats to Maggie Trunda, whose logo was chosen

for this year's Senior Studio Odyssey Artwalk publicity.

Graphic Design students were asked to create Tshirt designs for Prom favors

this year.  The senior class voted on Harry Kuykendall's design

as the winning shirt.  Shirts were given out to Prom goers the week of Prom

and seen around CG the day of.  Congratulations!

CG Art Dept was honored this year to provide publicity for our Spring Musical;

The Wiz.  GD2 students created designs for the Musical posters,

program cover and T-shirts to advertise the show.

  Congratulations to Jack Reardon and Harry Kuykendall, whose designs were used for the posters, and Liz Spiewak whose design was used for the program covers.  Harry's design is also on the T-shirts.

Congratulations to Graphic Design 1 student Harry Kuykendall whose design was chosen to be the new masthead of the redesigned Cary-Grove newspaper, the Trojan Times.  His masthead will be permanently gracing the top

of each issue this year.

Congratulations to Graphic Design 1 student Anthony Snyder whose tshirt design won the majority vote of Fall Art students to become the 07/08 CG Art Tshirt.  Anyone may order a tshirt or hoodie sweatshirt of his design

through any of the three art teachers.

 

graphic design is a semester course intended to teach the art student the use of design skills, elements and principles for the purpose of visual communication;

communicating a message to an intended audience using type and graphic elements

(photography, illustration, branding and iconography)

Of equal importance is training students to strengthen their problem solving

and idea formulation skills, as designers need to bringfresh, innovatiove ideas to the marketplace.  Students can continue their GD studies in graphic design 2.
